This idea led to the creation of the Hollow Flashlight\u2014the first rechargeable flashlight that didn\u2019t require charging or battery replacements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The inspiration came when a friend mentioned missing school due to a lack of electricity at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This invention won Ann first place at the <em>Google Science Fair<\/em> and the <em>Intel Science and Engineering Fair<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She was invited to appear on <em>The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon<\/em> to showcase her invention and delivered talks at TED events.
