Y&Y Construction has completed the design and construction of Yang Fu Ji Fusion Cuisine at 117-4501 Kingsway in Burnaby, British Columbia. The 3,700 sq ft restaurant opened in September 2026, bringing together a main dining room, planted booth seating and private dining areas within a warm interior defined by wood tones and woven textures.
Y&Y’s responsibilities covered design, construction and project management. The project included three weeks of design and three months of construction, with a scope extending from interior partitions and finishes to commercial kitchen infrastructure, exhaust systems and equipment installation. Site coordination was also included in the team’s work.

In the main dining room, a dark ceiling grid establishes a repeating pattern above rows of wood-toned tables and chairs. Woven-texture panels along one side of the room introduce a finer surface detail, while the planted booths opposite add greenery and upholstered seating. The combination gives the open hall several distinct visual layers, from the ceiling structure to the furniture and planting at table level.
The booth area pairs terracotta-coloured upholstery with round tables, textured wall finishes and broad pendant shades. Planting runs above the seat backs, creating a partial visual boundary around the tables while maintaining a connection with the main room. Repeated pendant forms give this part of the restaurant a consistent rhythm, with the warm wall colour carrying through the seating and overhead shades.
Private dining areas continue the wood tones and woven details in a more enclosed setting. A round table forms the centre of the room, surrounded by chairs with woven backs. Beside the glazing, the seating receives a different backdrop from the main hall, while a patterned ceiling and suspended light fitting give the room its own character. These details distinguish the private setting while retaining a visual connection with the wider restaurant.
Across the dining areas, changes in furniture arrangement and enclosure create a range of settings within the same restaurant. Freestanding tables occupy the main hall, booths define smaller groups along its edge, and private rooms provide separate dining spaces. The recurring materials connect these arrangements without making each area identical.
Beyond the guest-facing interior, Y&Y’s work included plumbing, electrical and gas work, the commercial kitchen, exhaust systems and equipment installation. This technical scope extended the restaurant project beyond the visible dining spaces, covering the services and kitchen systems that support food preparation and daily restaurant use.
Interior construction also encompassed partitions, flooring, walls and decoration. With these activities included alongside the kitchen and building services, the team’s responsibilities reached across both the restaurant’s finished appearance and its supporting infrastructure. Design, construction and project management were brought together within Y&Y’s scope for the Burnaby location.
